Q. What is the difference between SI LED and MI LED?
A. SI (Super Intense) is the first generation of LED's typically 5mm Diameter and principally used for decorative and marker lighting. MI (Mega Intense) is an LED which can be used for lighting. Generally a number of this type of LED would be used to create light outputs equivalent to 20W 50W and 100W of traditional incandescent or low voltage lighting.
Q. Is LED environmentally friendly?
A. Absolutely, LEDs use tiny amounts of electricity compared to your traditional filament or halogen bulbs. For example, our alternative to a 35watt halogen uses just 7watts! An added, and frankly rather massive advantage of LED is that they are generally fit and forget. No more changing bulbs!
Q. What's a PSU and do I need one?
A. Simply put, PSU stands for Power Supply Unit - a transformer in laymans' terms. All LED's need either constant voltage or constant current at very low voltages. Make sure you note of your selected product has the PSU incorporated or not before you buy.
Q. Can I fix my LED lights onto dimmer switches
A. Yes. If you want to dim your LEDs you will need a dimmable driver connected to a trailing edge electronic dimmers. Always best to ask us.
Q. What on earth is RGB?
A. RGB means Red, Green, Blue and is a generic term for LEDs that are able to create a range of colour mixes from a single lamp. You will most likely want the RGB colour controller with your product that allows you to choose, scroll or set your colour scheme with a little remote! |
